Rustic Shade Retreat Before

Rustic Shade Retreat

Ankeny, IA – Built in 2023

This custom deck was built in Ankeny, Iowa in 2023 and combines smart function with timeless style. It features composite decking, a black aluminum railing, and under-deck storage. A rough cedar pergola with a waterproof system covers part of the deck, providing shade and protection while enhancing the overall design.

Project Highlights

Composite Decking

This project features durable, low-maintenance composite decking designed to withstand Iowa’s weather while maintaining a clean, modern appearance. The material offers long-lasting performance and a natural wood look without the upkeep of traditional lumber.

Black Aluminum Railing

We installed black aluminum railing for a sleek, contemporary finish that complements the composite decking and adds a strong visual frame to the space. The powder-coated surface ensures long-term durability with minimal maintenance.

Under-Deck Storage

The space beneath the deck was enclosed to create a built-in storage area, ideal for keeping outdoor tools, furniture, and seasonal items protected and out of sight.

Rough Cedar Pergola

A custom rough cedar pergola was built over part of the deck, adding shade and architectural interest. The natural cedar grain brings warmth and character, balancing the modern elements of the deck.

Waterproof System

A waterproof system was installed under the pergola section to protect the space below from rain and runoff. This feature extends the usability of the deck and enhances the covered area’s comfort during all seasons.

Client Testimonial

Can’t praise Chad’s work ethic and professionalism enough. He was here to rebuild our deck every day bright and early and worked into the afternoon until it was finished. It looks magnificent! If you’re looking to get a new deck or your old one redone, Chad is your man.
